Why won’t my HP Deskjet F4280 printer/scanner/copier scan when I click the scan button on the machine?

I click scan, but the power button just flashes. How do I get it to scan?
If you installed the full software your printer should have installed a program called solution center. Open up solution center and you can scan from there, but you need to have installed the full software, the printer should have come with an install disk. If you do not have the full software installed or the disk you can download the full software from hp.com. Also your printer should have come with a manual or installed a manual when you installed the software. The manual will walk you through all the scanning steps. You can also download the manual from hp.com. If you still have problems you may need to do a complete uninstall/reinstall of the software. Do these things and then try it out.

2 commone possible reason:
1. your computer doesn’t have a program that can receive the scan so printer cannot recognize it
2. printer not connected to computer
