To use colored pencils well enough, should I need colored pencil paper?

Posted on February 27th, 2010 by admin

I’m wondering, because I kind of want to get back into using colored pencils, but I remember the last time I spent a long while on just one pic and scanned it, my sketch paper pretty much ruined the quality of its texture and I wound up starting all over, lol. I’ve used copier paper and the colors are alright, but I’m still kind of iffy on what I should be using. Thanks!

I use ivory card stock with my colored pencils when I’m not working out a sketch in my sketch book. You could also use white card stock. Some of the more vibrant colors will stand out nicely against the black. I find that card stock has enough tooth to the paper to hold on to the color and is sturdy enough for applying your color in layers. I don’t think copier paper will do justice to your work, so don’t waste your time using it other than for rough sketches. I haven’t tried illustration board because I don’t work on really large illustrations, but you might try that when it’s on sale. You could probably cut one board into four pieces if you are not working on a massive project. You can always chat with the sales people at Michaels as they know their product and many are artists who are working in there to earn money for more supplies along with paying the regular bills. Any art supply store is good for having knowledgeable staff. You can always read up on the internet and their are several good books out on using colored pencils and the paper that works best with them along with techniques. You might find some good books at your local library or look on Amazon and read the reviews. Hope this helped you a bit!

What can I do about a coworker’s over-use of perfume?

Posted on February 23rd, 2010 by admin

I work in a small office environment, and every morning I’m assaulted with the smell of perfume as I walk through the door. The coworker works in an open, yet cramped, office space three rooms away from the front door. Everywhere you go, the smell is there, lingering, with a vengence. Because of the way the office is set up, I have to literally sqeeze past this girl to get to the printer/scanner/copier. I use all three more than anyone else, so that means probably 50-75 times a day, I’m within inches of the smell. I’ve had chronic headaches since she’s been there. I don’t know her well, so I’ll probably end up talking to the office manager – her boss, not mine – but how do I put it?
Am I completely out of line?

Because of the headaches, you are probably allergic to it. Many people are allergic to perfumes. Just tell her boss the scent is overpowering and is making you feel ill. She should handle it from there. This woman obviously doesn’t know that a woman’s perfume should be discovered, not announced, and she’s immune to it.

How to change the copy location of the worksheet by Excel Sheets Copier?

Posted on February 21st, 2010 by admin

I hope to copy the Excel worksheet before the target worksheet.
How to use Excel Sheets Copier copy copy the worksheet after the target worksheet?

I assume you are talking about the product offered by "Excel Tools" software company: http://www.excel-tool.com/

It would have helped to know which version of this application you are using, and what version of MS-Excel that you currently have.

Go to the menu and click the word "Help". Read the instructions that are available within that content.

I need to copy black print off of a red piece of paper but normal copiers (using red) make the whole pg black.?

Posted on February 19th, 2010 by admin

Does any one know of possibly a scanning device that would scan the text into a word document? It contains diagram and symbols which are hard to type.

Try scanning it into a PDF instead. That should preserve the symbols, etc.

Use PDFcreator to do it. It’s a free PDF creator that installs like a printer. Link below.

Does anyone know why xerox transfers only work with certain copiers ?

Posted on February 8th, 2010 by admin

I have had great results in the past with the xerox transfer process, but the copier I used at a local copy place is no longer available, I dont even know much about it. All of the copiers I have used since will not transfer the image correctly.. I am not sure why some copiers work and some don’t. I am clueless about digial copiers, toner, laser printers…? Does anyone know what type of copier I need to use or what makes the xerox transfer work? Thanks for reading and for your help in advance;)

They don’t work on different makes of machines because the toners are different but most importantly the fuser temperatures and pressures are different.
